CAROLINAS PURPLE EMPEROR
1980 - 2005
It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Carolinas Purple Emperor. I first saw Emperor the year he was born and as soon as he put his head over the door it was a case of love at first sight.
I followed his career with great interest and saw many of his offspring winning at shows at home and abroad. His offspring have gone on to prove themselves inhand, driven and undersaddle. His son Carolinas Red Fox - a top hunter pony sire in the USA was put down in the same year as his sire - a sad loss for his owner Nancy-Jane Reed (Landsend Stud).
We have a full sister to Red Fox - Priestwood Chelsea Rose out of Purple Emperor's dam Downland Dresden, and she is producing beautiful foals for us.
Emperor played a huge part in our lives and we felt extremely privileged when he became part of our family courtesy of his breeder Carolyn Bachman His memory will live on in his daughters and grandchildren that we have at Priestwood, but I still look for his beautiful face and the proud toss of his head. I miss him more than words can say.
